ARGENTINA COACH SEES LAUTARO SUCCEEDING

Argentina Under-20 coach Fernando Batista opines that countryman Lautaro Martinez will succeed if the move to Barcelona happens. The Inter Milan man remains a target for La Liga giant Barcelona. Despite the financial situation in Spain meaning activity will be limited in the transfer market, the player continues to be linked with a big money switch from Italy to Spain.

Batista, who worked with the player at international level, feels the player will adjust quickly to the demands of his prospective employer. He feels if Lautaro deals with relatively more aggressive defending in Italy, then Spain would not be that bad.

Batista said the defending is aggressive but they score more and do not give opponents as much space. Comparing with Spain where attackers have two to three seconds of advantage. He feels Ronaldo is not scoring as much as he did in Spain partly because the defenders mark differently.

The coach feels the La Liga defending champions are seeking a goal poacher like Luis Suarez. He says Lautaro will link up very well with Lionel Messi to achieve as much as the former Liverpool man.
Former Inter Milan forward Diego Milito also agrees that Lautaro has the ability to meet the demands of Barcelona. Milito talked up the player, saying he is a complete player who has done well at Inter.

Milito opined that Lautaro can pair up with Suarez upfront if the coach wants, not limiting the squad to the 4-3-3 formation where only one of the them will lead the attack. He sees an options where Messi drops a little deeper so the two can do damage upfront. He compares this to the system at Inter where Romelu Lukaku and Martinez co-exist.
