Bale Claims Spurs Leave Was For The Best

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has claimed that this is the reason for leaving Tottenham to join one of the biggest clubs in the world. Real Madrid will be playing in the Champions League final looking to win the 10th trophy in their history. This would break the record of nine trophies, which is ironically held by Madrid themselves. Bale has been a major reason towards this incredible journey, as he has formed a great partnership with the front duo of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. At Tottenham, Bale was fighting to get into the top four.

Now, he is playing in the Champions League final. The 24-year-old Welshman, who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu for a world record transfer fee of £ 85 million, is widely expected to start against Atletico Madrid despite his injury problems in recent weeks. Even though he scored the final weekend of the season, Bale has been suffering from illness in the last few weeks. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed ahead of the match that he expects both Bale and Ronaldo be fit for the final. However, he stated that the fitness of Karim Benzema and Pepe could be a problem for the Spanish outfit.

The Champions League final 2014 will take place in Portugal on May 24.

“Any player will tell you that they want to go out and win trophies and be playing in massive games in the Champions League. For me, I felt the time was right to leave Tottenham and go to Real Madrid for the exact reasons I am experiencing now. As a player you want to come to the best club in the world and you want to win trophies, to win the Champions League. The reason why everyone plays football is to win things and to play in these games is massive for any footballer,” said Bale.
