CAN SANCHO BUILD ON VILLARREAL PERFORMANCE

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho would have heaved a huge sign of relief after he opened his account for the club during the Champions League win over Villarreal on Tuesday. Jadon Sancho scored the second goal for the Red Devils to clinch an impressive 2-0 away win over the Yellow Submarines and top spot in their group as well. Manchester United made sure that they won the group with a game to spare to ensure that they will avoid the big teams in the round of 16.

A lot of things were expected from Jadon Sancho when he signed for Manchester United from German team Borussia Dortmund in the summer and he would be the first person to raise up his hands and admit that his performances in the red and white of Manchester United have been below the required level. Manchester United put in a lot of work in the pursuit of Sancho for him to be a miss without even thinking about the €85m transfer fee paid for him. The Red Devils tried to sign him from Dortmund in previous transfer windows before they finally made a breakthrough this summer.

His poor start to his Manchester United career has seen him lose his spot in the England squad under Gareth Southgate after he was left out of the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and lowly San Marino. His poor form meant that Jadon Sancho was not a regular in the Manchester United starting XI while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the team.

Solskjaer was sacked by Manchester United last week and his assistant, Michael Carrick was placed in charge of the team for some games. In his first game at Villarreal,Carrick named Sancho in his starting XI and the winger repaid him with a goal thus leading to the question of whether the player can continue the good form when they travel to take on Manchester United in the league this weekend.
