Cristiano Ronaldo has won another award at Manchester United after he was named the Player of the Month (PotM) at the club for March 2022.The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient saw off the competition from Jadon Sancho and Fred to win the monthly award at the club for the third time this season. The Portuguese superstar was able to fend off Englishman Jadon Sancho and Brazilian star Fred after netting three times in two matches over the course of the month under review.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United for his second spell at the club at the start of the season and he won the Player of the Month award in his first two months of the season namely September 2021 and October 2021 after making a blistering start to his second United spell. He has not been able to maintain the form shown in the opening weeks of his second spell at the Theatre of Dreams.

In the month of March, Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United played just two games due to factors such as the international break, early FA Cup exit and the FA Cup commitments of Liverpool who were scheduled to be their opponents during the last set of Premier League games. The home games against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and Atletico Madrid in the Champions were the two Manchester United games this month.
In the first of the two games, Ronaldo scored a treble to lead Manchester United to a 3-2 win over Spurs thus completing the double over the North London club. Jadon Sancho provided an assist for Ronaldo during the Spurs game which resulted in a win to boost their top-four hopes in the league. In the second game, Ronaldo and United were dumped out of the Champions League after Brazilian left-back Renan Lodi scored the only goal of the game in the second leg at Old Trafford. With the goal, Spanish champions Atletico Madrid were able to qualify for the quarterfinals via a 2-1 aggregate win.
