RUSH WANTS MORE

Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush says that he is expecting even better things from Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale in the coming years. The Welshman is one of the players nominated for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award after helping Madrid win the Champions League title last season.

Even though Bale had a tough start to his life at the Santiago Bernabeu, he became a crucial member of the team towards the end of the campaign. Undoubtedly, his performances with Madrid have led to the talk of Bale helping Wales reach new heights in the coming years.

Over the years, Wales have had many talented players including Ian Rush and Ryan Giggs, but none of them have been able to take the national team to the next level. Wales continue to be seen as the minnows of world football despite being part of the home nations. Rush says that playing alongside some of the best players in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo can only help Bale improve his game. The 24-year-old is the world’s most expensive player after making an £ 85 million move to Madrid last summer. He recently returned it to the millennium stadium in Cardiff for the UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla.

“It’s absolutely fantastic that he is the only British name and he deserves it. He’s come through the ranks, he has progressed each time and his performances in his last three games for Wales have been absolutely fantastic, not just in terms of skill, but with the work-rate he puts in, and it shows how passionate a Welshman he is. Without doubt he can improve further when he is at Real Madrid alongside the likes of Ronaldo. I feel he will improve and become a better player because he’s at most probably the best football club in Europe,” said Rush.
